Kilchoman Distillery
An up and coming legend, at 11 years old Kilchoman is the new kid on the block opened by Anthony Wills in 2005.
Like most of the original distilleries on Islay, it has grown from a converted farm, and is the only one to complete the whole process from growing the barley to bottling the whisky on Islay. A small-scale production with only two stills, it produces about 120,000 litres of alcohol per year. Rockside Farm is situated inland and is the only Islay distillery not situated by the sea. Although a new distillery, Kilchoman is a traditional labour intensive hands on affair from growing the barley in a nearby field to turning the malts by rake on its own malt floor.
A range of expressions have been released including, Machir, Loch Gorm, Sanaig and Single Cask.
Visit Kilchoman
Remote compared to other distilleries, with the exception of Bunnhabhain, you’ll likely pass the beautiful Loch Gorm on your way along a narrow winding road.
A range of tours are available and if you get the chance to visit, you could pick up a specially selected single cask available only from the distillery shop.
Have look at some of the Kilchoman whiskies available at our shop.
