Lagavulin Distillery

Lagavulin Distillery with Dunyvaig Castle
Founded in 1816, Lagavulin distillery is situated at the south-east of the island, nestled between Ardbeg and Laphroaig, one of the three Kildaltdon legends. It sits beside the haunting ruins of Dunyvaig Castle, the old sea fort of the Lord of the Isles. There was a time when Islay was as an important political stronghold as Holyrood or Westminster.
Lagavulin along with Laphroaig are among the most strongly flavoured and peated single malts from Islay. Not a ‘beginners’ whisky necessarily, but a taste soon acquired and much appreciated for those with the palate. Currently producing three expressions, Lagavulin 16 Year Old, Lagavulin Distillers Edition and Lagavulin 12 Year Old which comes at cask strength.
